UThink Blogs

Another new technique that universities have adopted these days to make studies more effective is the creation and maintenance of Uthink Blogs.

UThink Blogs
A Uthink blog basically is maintained by the university library which helps the students and staff members to create as well as view each others blogs.

A blog is a small website that is time and date stamped given to an individual wherein he / she can put in text, graphics, photos and video about anything that interests him / her which can be viewed by others. Some of you might say that it is pretty similar to diary writing but actually it constitutes a lot many other things like discussion on politics, hobbies and pros and cons of a particular thing which is not part of diary entry process.

In a way Uthink blogging in a university will help faculty members to put forward their thoughts through their blogs to the students. Also it will help to increase interaction amongst the students and the faculty. The students will also have the facility of asking questions and can also discuss on a particular subject for which they want an elaboration.

Uthink Blogs can also be used by people to update news and it allows them to have their own personal opinion. The blogs can be helpful to the students in providing education because it can consist of a number of references from where students will understand a particular subject in a better way. As an example Uthink blogs can refer to a particular journal for a particular subject.

The Uthink blogs will also be able to provide other topics that are closely related to the one that you are looking for and thus you will have enough data at your disposal. The faculty can also post various assignments and performance reports of students on the blog which the students can check.

Students too can very well interact with their teachers and interact with their fellow companions on a particular topic and thus can help each other in understanding a that subject. No doubt Uthink blogs are a good way of educating students but there can be certain issues related to their usage.

In general, blogs can easily be accessed by the public and so the administration must ensure that any important information posted on a blog is accessible to the required people only. The IT people at the university must secure the Uthink blog only for students, administration and faculty members.

This can be done using logons, passwords, SSL Layers or by any other methods. The students too should be aware of the fact that professors can read their blogs and so they should not write anything about them because that might land them into trouble. Just like corporations are allowed to read their employees emails, there are no expectations of privacy on university owned blogs.

Many universities around the world have maintained Uthink blogs and they think that it has helped their students and faculty members immensely. Perhaps the Uthink Blog at the University of Minnesota is the most famous for using this leading educational technology.

I believe that in the years to come the Uthink blogs will become a part of almost each and every university which will help its teachers and students to study in a different way.
